Tell everybody the Good News
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: Christmas time gives many opportunities to
talk to people about the Good News of the Gospel. The birth of
Christ should be understood for what it is, the coming of God
into human form to save us from our sins. Children should be made
aware very early in life of how important it is that we share our
faith with others.
*Hand out play money (Monopoly money or some you make) to
the children in the amount of 1,000 dollars. Ask them to pretend
that this is real money and that someone here has just given them
that amount of money at church. Ask them to tell you what they
would do if they got this gift. As they talk about what they
would do, make sure they say they would tell a lot of people
about their good fortune. If they don't say this, lead them to
make that statement. When you have it fully affirmed that they
would tell everybody about it, tell them that have received a
free gift that is worth much more than 1,000 dollars. They have
received the free gift of eternal salvation from God. Shouldn't
we be more anxious to share this Good News than the news about
the money? Make sure they get the point!
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Explain to the children that you are going to tell a secret
to one person, and you want that one person to share the secret
with two others. Those two are to share the secret with another
two and so forth until all in the room know the secret. Let it
begin and time how long it takes to reach everyone. Ask them if
it wouldn't be wonderful if the Good News of the Gospel would
spread like this.
