There's always enough
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: We need to make our children aware that
God is the source of all that we have. God provides all that we
need in this life and gives those who believe in His Son eternal
life with Him in Heaven. When Jesus fed the multitude with loaves
and fishes, he was demonstrating that God always provides what we
need. Let's be sure that the children understand that it is God
who provides what we need.
*Write on the board or easel "Needs" and "Wants." Then name
things that the children need and/or want to see if they will
place them under the right category. Under the area of needs we
should have air, water, food, shelter, and things like that.
Under the "Wants," we should have things that they would like to
have but can certainly live without. Discuss the various items as
they are listed to be sure they get them in the right category.
The final item you name will be the Word of God. See if they are
willing to put this under the "Needs" category.
*Instead of, or in addition to, the above exercise, ask the
children to identify the source of the things that we need. If
you have done the above exercise, just work from the "Needs"
list. If not, make a list of the things that we need and ask them
to identify the source of that item. Work back from each item to
a point where they clearly see that it is God who provides the
things that we need.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Open with a prayer that thanks God for providing the things
that we need. Ask the children to participate in the prayer by
naming things that they are particularly grateful for.
