Things change
Children's sermon
Object:
a picture of an old car
Good morning! What's your favorite kind of car? If you could
have any car you wanted, what car would you choose? (Let them
answer.) Those are all nice cars. Nobody said they would like
this one. (Show the picture.) In its day, this was considered a
really good car, and one that a lot of people wanted. But things
change, don't they? Nobody today would want this kind of car
except as an antique, a curiosity. Our world and the things in it
keep changing, and they are changing now faster than they ever
did. By the time you start to drive cars, they will have changed
a lot from the ones we are driving today.
Now, the Bible tells us that the world is not only changing,
but will eventually come to a complete end. Jesus will come back
to take all of us who believe in him to Heaven to live with him
there forever. Everything then will change into something new and
wonderful, and then there will be no more changes. We will all be
perfect and the place we live will be perfect. Won't that be
wonderful? (Let them answer.) Yes indeed, that's a change we can
all look forward to. Let's thank God for promising to take us
with him into that perfect place that will never change.
Dear Heavenly Father: We thank You for promising to take us to
Heaven, a place that will never change because it is absolutely
perfect. Amen.
