We can get in
Children's sermon
Object:
A key
When I left my house today, I locked it up with this key.
That house is now closed until I come home and unlock it with this
key. If someone tries to get in without this key, the door won't
open.
Do some of you carry keys to anything? Do you have a house
key or a key to a bike lock or any other keys? (Let them answer.)
Well, the purpose of the key is to be sure only the person
who has the key can get in, isn't it?
Now all of you would like to get into heaven, wouldn't you?
(Let them answer.) Well, do you have a key that will let you into
heaven? (Let them answer.) In a way, you do have a key. The key
that will let you into heaven is the blood of Jesus. When he died
on that cross on Good Friday, nearly two thousand years ago, his
blood became the key to heaven for all of us. All of us who
believe that Jesus shed his blood on the cross to pay for our sins
will be able to enter heaven. His blood is our key.
Dear Jesus: Thank you for shedding your blood for us on the cross
so that we can all enter into heaven. Amen.
