We need the doctor!
Children's sermon

physicians
Good morning! If you got sick and your parents didn't know
what was wrong with you, what would they do? (Let them answer.)
Yes, they would take you to the doctor. If you were really sick,
they might take you right to the hospital. Has that ever happened
to you? (Let them answer.)
We have a lot of doctors in our city. Look here at the
yellow pages and see how many there are. (Show the pages.) You
can see that there are doctors for just about everything. Here
are some that work on eyes, and some that work with bones, and
others that just work on heart problems. If you had an eye
problem, would you go to the bone doctor or the eye doctor? (Let
them answer.) Yes, of course, you would go to the eye doctor for
an eye problem.
Actually, you and I actually need a doctor right now. We
have a very serious illness called sin. If we don't do anything
about it, it will kill us! Look again at these pages and tell me
what kind of doctor we need. (Show the pages again.) There's no
"Sin Doctor" listed, is there? We need this kind of doctor, but
there's none listed. Where are we going to find someone to cure
us? (Let them answer.) Jesus is the Sin Doctor. He is the only
one who can heal us, and he does it by forgiving the sins of all
those who believe in him. Do you believe in Jesus? (Let them
answer.) Good! Then he will heal you of your sins.
Let's thank Jesus for being the doctor that we all need to
heal us of the bad disease of sin.
Dear Jesus: We thank you for being the doctor we all need. You
can forgive our sins and keep us from dying because of them.
Thank you so much for promising to do that for us. Amen.
