SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Potatoes
Knife
Wiggle eyes, pom-poms, pipe cleaners (or other materials for making a face)
Glue
Small cups
Spoons
Potting soil
Grass seed
Water
Eyedropper
Directions:
1. Before the children arrive, cut holes out of the tops of the potatoes using the knife.
2. Give each of the children a potato and have them create faces on their potatoes using the wiggle eyes, pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and other decorating material by gluing them onto the potatoes.
3. Give each of the children a small cup to place their "head" into and have them spoon potting soil into the holes in the potato "heads."
4. Help the children sprinkle some grass seed on top of the soil.
5. Tell the children to add a very thin layer of potting soil to cover the seed.
6. Help the children use an eyedropper to drip water onto the soil until it is damp.
7. Let the children take their potato heads home and remind them to water the "hair" every day.
8. Tell the children the "hair" on their potato heads will start to show in seven to ten days.
