Who am I?
Children's sermon
Object:
none
Good morning! I'd like for us to play a little game today.
The game is called, "WHO AM I?" Here's how we play it. I will
pretend that I am a famous person and tell you some things about
myself. Then you try to guess who I am talking about. Here's the
first one: I am called the Father of my country. I was the first
President of the United States. Who am I? (Let them answer. If
the children are quite young or have any problems answering,
continue to give clues until they get the right answer.)
Okay, now let's try another one. (Use another one or two
famous people and let them identify whom you are speaking about.)
Now here's the final one. Let's see if you can get this one.
I was born over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem. I was a carpenter,
but when I was about thirty I began to preach about the Kingdom
of God and tell people all about God. I did a lot of miracles. I
cured the sick, made the lame walk, the deaf hear, the blind see,
and even raised some people from the dead. The rulers of Israel
killed me by crucifying me on a cross, but on the third day after
my death, I rose from the dead. Who am I? (Let them answer.) Yes,
of course, I was talking about Jesus. What are some other things
I might have told you about him? (Let them answer.)
You know, you and I know a lot of things about Jesus, but
there are a lot of people who never come to church and wouldn't
know anything about him. What do you think we ought to do about
that? (Let them answer.) I think it's very important that
everyone know all about Jesus, so each of us had better do all
that we can to get people to come to church and find out about
him. Let's ask God to help us do that.
Dear Father in Heaven: We know You want everyone to know about
Your Son, Jesus, and all that he has done for us. Help us to tell
other people about him. Give us the strength and courage to tell
about him wherever we go. Amen.
