Who is it?
Children's Activity
Object:
Teachers or Parents: We want our children to know who Jesus is
and to be able to tell others who he is. Jesus challenged his own
apostles with the question, "Who do you say that I am?" This
question needs an answer and our children should be equipped to
answer it. They should know that he is the Christ, the son of the
living God.
*Put up pictures of famous people whom the children will
recognize and let them identify each person and talk about why
that person is famous. Then put up a picture of Jesus and let
them talk about why he is famous. Ask them to compare what Jesus
did to what the others did in terms of importance to all
humankind. Make sure that they understand that Jesus is the most
important man who ever lived.
*Ask the children to name all the facts about Jesus that
they know, and write them on a board or easel as they name them.
Suggest things to them when they run out of ideas. When they have
named as many things as they can, review the list and make sure
that the list includes the fact that he is the son of God who
died on the cross to pay for our sins. Discuss with them how we
can share these facts with others.
Sunday school assembly opening:
*Sing a hymn to Jesus, such as "Jesus, Lover Of My Soul" or
"Jesus, Name Of Wondrous Love."
