In 2007, Embassy Suites hosted a "Do Not Disturb" sign contest. Visitors were invited to
submit their versions of a "Do Not Disturb" sign to replace the standard doorknob
hangers. There were five winning submissions. Sandra Parcher of Milites, California,
submitted a sign that read, "There are days when I wish I could wear this around my
neck. Do not disturb." Or how about Marty Mintman of St. Louis, whose sign read, "Shh
... I'm hatching a plan to bust some little soaps out of here. Do not disturb."
The blood that the Israelite children smeared on their doorposts might have been the first and the most important of all "Do Not Disturb" signs. When the angel of death saw that blood, it did not disturb the family that was gathered behind the door.
