Aaron was never going to...

Aaron was never going to become a nuclear physicist, or even a storekeeper for that matter, so he didn't understand why his high school counselor insisted he take so much math. He had argued all he could; then his parents had sided with the counselor. Consequently, he was now wrestling with a practically impossible assignment -- math homework. It wasn't that he had failed to pay attention in class. He had listened. He had taken notes. He had written down the assignment. He had copied the examples his teacher had put on the blackboard, examples which had seemed quite clear at the time. But somewhere between then and now, the clear had grown cloudy. So he'd taken his notes to his dad to ask for help. After looking over the assignment and Aaron's notes, his dad had questioned, "How can you not understand? The example is right here in front of you. All you have to do is follow it. How clear does your teacher have to make it for you?" His dad's response hadn't helped. Aaron really wanted to do his homework, even as much as he detested math. But he just didn't know how, even with the example to guide him. -- Fannin
