After many letters and many more phone calls, the old, abandoned house was razed. The neighbors had waited a long time for the city to take care of it. But their persistence had paid off. It was in the early spring when it was finally demolished. Now there was another problem. The tremendous rains this summer left the lot overgrown with weeds and unsightly bushes. The people in the neighborhood decided that it was time to begin another campaign of letters and phone calls to the city about cleaning it up. They also requested that a park and playground be part of the plans for the lot.
