All of life is a journey. It is exciting to anticipate going somewhere and pursuing a goal. It is even more inspiring if the journey is difficult so that getting there requires persistence. In many of our journeys we need help from others. There are questions we need to ask and answers to our questions that we need to ponder. Unfortunately, there are often frequent obstacles along the way. When the obstacles are people with evil designs, that is, people whose own journeys spell destruction for others, then we are puzzled, even discouraged. Our journeys therefore may acquaint us with many joys, but also deception. But when we succeed in our persistence and our stars lead us to happiness, then we feel worthy and confirmed. We give to others in their pilgrimage of life as we have been given in our own. The story of the visit of the Magi is just such a pilgrimage. It is full of joy and happiness, but also intrigue, deception, and perplexity. That makes for one exciting journey.
