Allen Meck would paint this word picture for his listeners: "Sheep are walking across a beautiful green pasture after a good spring rain. What color are those sheep? White, you say. Now take the same sheep, and the same pasture, but after a recent snowfall. What color are those sheep? Gray, becomes the answer. The sheep have not changed, but the background has. The comparison makes the change." The good shepherd reflects upon the shepherding care of others, which may be good, but when you compare it to the work of Christ, it does seem little indeed. Sometimes, I do very well in this world compared to some others I know. But I never use that phrase when I compare my life to what Christ expects of me! I know I'll really look pale by comparison! -- Gobrecht
