In an article titled Dangers of Good Preaching, Wiliam Willimon writes that as a young preacher he thought the reason there were not more prophets in the pulpit was because preachers were basically cowards. He believed that they were afraid to speak out for fear of losing their jobs. As the years went by he came to realize that this was not the case. He said, "Preachers hold back the truth and take the safe, sweet way because they have come to love the people." (Dangers of Good Preaching, The Circuit Rider, April, 1985) -- Angus
