Back in the earlier days...

Back in the earlier days of television one of the most popular TV hosts was Art Linkletter. One of the amusing elements of his show was that portion where he interviewed children of all ages and asked various questions about their lives. He would always conclude that portion of his show with the words, "Kids say the darndest things."
Imagine the anguish of Jesus' parents when they returned to Jerusalem in search of their child. They had searched all over and eventually found him in the Temple. There he was sitting in the Temple being interviewed by the priests and asking them questions in turn. Given his wisdom beyond his years, I can just hear them in astonished voices saying, "This kid is saying the darndest things."
Likewise his parents were surprised to find their son in the Temple. When they inquired, he said, "Where did you expect to find me other than in my Father's house." I say they were surprised, for who of us would have looked for our child at church.
Kids do say the darndest things.
