Bertha was dying. The young hospital chaplain intern stopped by several times to visit her. Scripture, songs, and prayers were shared. A close and tender relationship developed. On the last day before Bertha was to be released to go to Nebraska to die at home with the family, the chaplain shared a few parting words with her. As he left, he turned at the door and awkwardly said in parting, "I'll see you, Bertha." She smiled at him and said with a knowing twinkle in her eye and a lilt in her voice, "Not in this life you won't; but someday!" Bertha knew how to look "not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen." -- Molldrem
