Bethany had been writing songs since she had begun playing the piano. Now that she had just graduated from college, she had become more intentional about her songwriting. In fact, she had entered a songwriting contest and was anxiously waiting for word of the results. She wanted to win in order to gain some recognition for her work, but she was not excited about the first prize of the contest. An all-expense paid trip to Nashville featuring a personal visit with Chet Atkins and Garth Brooks was not something she dreamed about. In fact, of all of the different types of music around, country was her least favorite. However, when she won and travelled to Nashville, the excitement began to build. The time came for her to meet Chet and Garth. The three-way conversation turned out to be an eye-opener for Bethany. The more they revealed about themselves, the more she liked the two men, their dedication to music and the crafting of fine music. She found herself becoming friends with them and friendly toward their style of music. As a result she went home with a new appreciation for country music and even dedicated her next song to her two new special friends. -- Thompson
