Bethlehem of Judea is small...

Bethlehem of Judea is small in size but great in importance. It has touched the lives of many with its beauty.
When Phillips Brooks was a young pastor, he made a trip to the Holy Land. The day before Christmas he rode on horseback from Jerusalem to Bethlehem. That Christmas Eve he attended a worship service which lasted until 3 a.m. Leaving the church he must have seen Bethlehem very much as it was on the night Jesus was born. Far in the nineteenth century there were still no street lights or night clubs.
When he returned home to Philadelphia with those wonderful memories etched into his mind, he wrote that beautiful hymn to its glory, "O Little Town of Bethlehem." Such an obscure village only six miles from Jerusalem, and yet that little town holds sway over so many hearts.
