Boys and Girls Town is a care and treatment facility for youth ages ten to seventeen, located near Omaha, Nebraska. Young children who have experienced some severe difficulties are cared for in one of 71 family-style homes. Youth with a history of drug or alcohol abuse, who have been the victims of physical or sexual abuse, who have a history of running away, or who have behavioral problems, come to Boys and Girls Town.
One family-teaching couple is Chris and Lori Mathsen, who have been at Boys and Girls Town for sixteen years. They have had more than eighty boys live in their home over that time. Chris and Lori stress to each of their residents the importance of being part of a family unit, and how to make a positive contribution to the family. They believe that if the boys can make a positive contribution in a family situation, they will be able to make a positive contribution to society.
In such a simple, ordinary, family manner, Chris and Lori care for the least of these.
