The brides of the Himba...
The brides of the Himba people in Namibia wear a leather headdress, the back of which features the shape of a cow's ears and horns. For the wedding, they also cover themselves with red ocher and butterfat, scented with herbs. Masai brides in Kenya wear ornate collars of multicolored beads and metal charms. The Rashaida brides of Eritrea cover their faces with an elaborate mask, sometimes decorated with silver thread and pendants provided by the groom. It is customary to adorn Swahili brides with henna designs on their hands and feet. (Source: National Geographic, November 1999, pp.
