Brittany has been through a lot in her seventeen years. She was only a toddler when her
parents broke up and later divorced. She candidly says that every couple of years she
would have a new father figure in her life. The summer after eighth grade, Brit made a
heartbreaking discovery. Her mother was addicted to cocaine. Her stepfather traveled a
good deal for his job and wasn't home as much as she would have liked. He worked hard
trying to keep the family together.
Unsure what would happen to her or her younger brother, a neighbor couple took them in to live with them. The couple cared for her that summer and for the first time in her life, she felt loved. Soon this couple began taking Brit to church with them where she became active in the youth group. She clearly remembers the day when she surrendered her life to Jesus Christ. That day changed her entire life.
Today, several years later, Brit is still involved in the youth group of that church. Through Bible studies and prayer she says she wants to help other teens that are experiencing some of the problems that she has lived through. She feels this is her mission, her calling to help peers in trouble.
