C. Kilmer Myers, in a study, "To Fill the Emptiness," tells of hearing about a nun of the Greek Orthodox Church who was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp during World War II. Each day she watched the long line of Jewish men and women being led into the gas chamber. One day, as she watched, a young girl became hysterical as she neared the fateful door. Quietly the old nun led her from the line. The nun then stepped into the vacant place, and in a moment passed through the door. -- Keller
