Cecil and Dorothy Dye lived victorious lives in the face of terror and tragedy. Cecil was a missionary to Bolivia in the 1940s, when he encountered a band of headhunters. He was never seen again. Dorothy continued in missionary work for another decade. Late in life, Dorothy lost her legs because of complications from diabetes. Yet, her spirit did not express bitterness, but rather graciousness and love. Shortly before her death, reflecting on the difficulties she had endured, Dorothy concluded that it was worth it all. There is an opening line from a hymn that describes this reality: "We are more than conquerors through him who loved us all." Or as Paul exclaims, "Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
