The changes in South Africa...

The changes in South Africa in the past four years have been nothing short of revolutionary. Many people worked for many years to achieve the victory finally won by the majority in April. One of the greatest of these is Nobel Peace Laureate Desmond Tutu, Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town. While receiving acclaim from outside the country, Tutu was often the object of suspicion and even outright hostility from the former government. Life is never easy for God's prophets, especially those who have been called to proclaim the Gospel to the marginalized, and one might have forgiven Tutu for giving up -- if he ever had. In the midst of strife and struggle, Desmond Tutu has remained a celebrating person, nourished by the joyous faith of a people who rejoice in God's love for all humanity. No one who has seen the elation of the worship in Tutu's cathedral can have any doubt of that.
