At a Christian preschool, three- and four-year-olds fill the church three mornings a week. Sounds of joy, laughter, crying (occasionally), enthusiasm, and life penetrate the walls! Each week the children learn a short Bible verse and their lessons that week relate back to that verse.
One week the verse was about God's word "which is a lamp unto our feet." The teachers took the kids in small groups into some of the dark places in the building with flashlights looking for a copy of the Bible. They were a bit afraid of the dark and held hands more tightly than normal. When they found the Bible, someone turned the lights on. Everyone shouted with glee as the light filled the room and they all felt a bit safer.
The people of Israel were filled with joy when they were walking in darkness and then saw a "great light."
