On a cold February evening...

On a cold February evening in Edmonton, Alberta, 13-month-old Erika Nordby wandered outside dressed only in diapers and a pink T-shirt. Her mother thought she was asleep. She wasn't, nor was the back door through which Erika exited latched properly.
When her mother went to check on Erika, her bed was empty. Discovering the back door open, she ran outside to find her daughter lying frozen on the snow. Her heart had stopped beating, her mouth was frozen shut, and her toes were frozen together. By the time paramedics got Erika to the hospital, her body temperature was 16 degrees C, about half the normal temperature 37 degrees C. Working against all odds, doctors and nurses slowly re-warmed Erika's body. Miraculously, her heart began to pump. She was alive!
Despite severe frostbite, none of Erika's toes needed to be amputated. Skin grafts were required on parts of her left foot and some toes; otherwise Erika was in good health.
Imagine the relief and joy that Erika's mother felt when her daughter was presented back to her alive! Imagine the relief and joy that the saints and widows felt when Peter presented Tabitha back to them alive.
