The community had worked hard...

The community had worked hard for several years to collect the funds necessary to build a suitable place for worship. They held numerous dinners, bazaars, bake sales and carnivals. Now the building was finally finished. The years of working together had produced more than a beautiful place of worship. They were a strong, caring community that was very conscious of one another and quick to respond to the needs of the members. What a unifying experience it had been for all of them. This weekend they would gather here for worship for the first time. How excited they were and proud! As the minister walked around the building checking on last minute details, she wondered how newcomers would be received here. Would the community be able to reach out to those who might join them in the weeks and months ahead? Would those who had not played an active role in reaching this goal ever really feel they "belonged"? It would not be easy to join such a close-knit community. She prayed that the community would reach out to strangers that all might know the name of God proclaimed in this house of God. -- Lynch
