Dear Cindy and Tom,
We surely wish we could be with you on this wonderful day, but somehow the trip is one we just can't make right now. We know you understand. Cindy, you have always had a very special place in our hearts. And Tom, as our new "grandson-elect" you have already made a place just as special. When you speak your vows this afternoon, we will be "listening." When you move back down the aisle to start your new life together, our joy will be as great as all the others who will be smiling at the sight of you.
Fifty-one years ago we took the same step, and we have never regretted it! Worked at it, yes, and wondered what the other was thinking, struggled at times to find the right words to say, and gradually learned the graces of patience, kindness, and humility we were so sure we had when we started out, only to find how much more we needed to grow. In a sense, even after all these years, we are still new at this, still learning, still, we hope, maturing. The good process never stops!
Please know this greeting comes with our prayers that, working together and drawing your life from the Loving One, you may grow ever deeper in the treasure that truly knows no price.
With all our love,
Grandma and Grandad
