Dietrich Bonhoeffer walked to the execution yard in April 1945 saying, "This is the end. But for me it is the beginning of life." How could he say such a thing? He knew his life was hid with God in Christ. Like Paul, he was at home in two worlds simultaneously. He was an Easter Person all the while he fought Satan in Nazi Germany. How did you feel? Mad? Frustrated? Did you wish you had never become involved in the story in the first place?
Can you imagine how the disciples felt after those years of being involved with Jesus? Things were happening; then everything went "fuzz" in their lives when Jesus was crucified! When their lives finally came back on, everything was surprisingly better. Their program of living was changed so much for the better that they forgot all about what they were missing from the past.
