The director of Christian education...

The director of Christian education in a 5,000-member church makes an appeal for Sunday school teachers in each newsletter. There are always several vacancies that are handled by doubling up classes.
Maria came to the director's office one morning to speak with him about teaching a class. She told him that every time she read the church newsletter, she knew in her heart that she should respond. But she felt she was inadequate to take over a class. She had dropped out of high school, had married, and was now a divorced mother of two, struggling to keep her home together for her children.
"Perhaps I could help another teacher for a while to get some experience. I feel that God wants me to do this, and if God helps me, surely I can do it! I needed to be here today. I hope you can use me," she told the director.
