Do not touch! We see...

"Do not touch!" We see the "Wet Paint" sign, but we still have to test it. By golly, it really is "Wet Paint." It also said, "Do Not Touch." We say those words to children as we enter a store or some relatives' homes. "Now, don't touch anything." We need that reminder sometimes as adults, too. And storekeepers have a pithy saying, "You broke it; you bought it."
We also note that successful people just seem to have the right touch for their work. Excellent musicians have a touch that other proficient musicians do not have. When we try to get some money from someone else for ourselves or for a cause, they say that we are "putting the touch" on them. We are being warned to watch how we touch each other these days.
Thomas wants to touch Jesus. His attitude is "If I can't do it, I won't believe." But it is Jesus who puts him to the test. "Come on and touch me," Jesus says. We don't know if Thomas did or not. Was the promise or the opportunity enough? Thomas certainly changes his tune to a strong affirmation of faith!
Do these words touch you? John says that he wrote them so that you may believe, and that touching this story, you may be a person of faith, and that through Jesus Christ, you may have life!
