During WW II in Germany...

During WW II in Germany the asylums were emptied. Warm bodies were needed. With meaningful work to do, many who were formerly incapacitated for life found new life.
Meaningful work has a dynamic of its own which spills over into every dimension of life, ordering it. Strangely, in a super-sophisticated world, we cannot move beyond this elementary fact. To find meaning in life we must find some way to express order. We have to do a task and complete it, put one foot before the other, and move on in goals we have set. Only then do we move from idleness to productivity. Despite the advances of our century, life continues to verify that sloth is one of the major sins.
