Each August, the Canadian National...

Each August, the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto presents a spectacle of color,
activity, creativity, and entertainment. All through the midway the hucksters beckon you
to come try this game of chance, see the incredible sights of this exhibit, or try this
breathtaking ride. Off the midway, one ventures through another set of peddlers who cry
out for your attention and money. "Buy my product," they urge. From pens that write
upside down, sprays that keep your bathroom window de-fogged, miracle solutions that
will remove even the most impossible stain, to knives that can cut through steel and not
get dull, you can buy it.
In the midst of these people hawking shoes, chairs, solutions, pens, handicrafts, and food, one encounters a booth or two where something more calming is offered. Local churches, Bible societies, and charities have their booths, informing visitors of their ministries and inviting their participation and support. In the midst of the clamor for your money and time, these booths remind us of our text: they call to us, "Come get wisdom; the fear of the Lord." And like the text, many walk right on by.
