Emory, an old homeless wino, was picked up with a bunch of other men at a local bar
during a police drug sting operation. The rest of the men had private lawyers who got
them out of jail with bail and a plea bargain sentence of probation. Emory sat for months
in jail and got an overworked public defender. This overworked defender made some
errors and Emory ended up serving major prison time for trafficking drugs. He had no
strong advocate within the system as his voice in the courts.
