Every year during the month...

Every year during the month of June an impressive ceremony is held in London. It is called "the trooping of the colors" as the British monarch is honored on her birth. The ceremony always occurs in June even though the present Queen of England was born in April. This colorful ceremony is meant to honor the royal monarch, pay homage to Britain's fallen warriors, and instill pride in Queen and Country.
The sound of martial music and the flap of guidons and regimental flags in the summer breeze can bring a tear to the eye and a skip to the heartbeat as we watch a Fourth of July parade or honor our nation's veterans on Memorial Day.
Floating in majestic power over the letters of Paul is the banner labeled "Justification by Faith." There that banner waves above the Reformers of the sixteenth century who placed faith in Christ as the sine qua non of the Christian faith.
Paul teaches all of us that our blessed assurance is found in the cross of Jesus Christ who arose in glory on Easter morning so that we might be justified by grace, forgiven of our sins, and made new women and men living in obedience to the Christ of Creation.
