Five-year-old Lee and his three-year-old sister, Kristen, had never seen anything like the community light display that they walked through with their grandparents. The event was advertised as the largest display in the state with over one million lights. The lights were strung on trees, over arches along the path, and other displays. Delight could be seen on the children's faces.
Later, they went home and told their mother about the lights. They were so excited they could not stop talking about them. Their mother told her parents that it was difficult to get them to bed that night because they were so excited.
The author of the book of Hebrews exhibits a sense of mystery and awe. Jesus "is the reflection of God's glory." Jesus, the Son of God, inspires the holy within each of us. May we approach Christmas with that childlike sense of awe and wonder.
