Grizzly, a German shepherd belonging...

Grizzly, a German shepherd belonging to Lana Crawford Davis of Klamath Falls, Oregon, had an intuitive sense about a person's need. If a person was discouraged, he would put his nose in the person's hand and woof deep in his throat until the person laughed. If the person were in pain, the dog would just lie close to him. If the person wanted to talk, he would listen. He was so effective that he accompanied Lana's son, Jeremy, two years through his war against cancer until Jeremy died at the age of seventeen. Grizzly was so helpful even after he became blind that Lana took him to the pediatric floor at the University of Utah Health Sciences Center where he has helped many children. His efforts resulted in the establishing of the Good Shepherd Association, an organization of some eighty volunteer handlers and a large number of pets who help comfort, encourage, and uplift children who are ill. We have a Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who not only gave his life for the sheep that we might live, but shows his daily care for us as he guards us from all danger and protects us from all evil, leading us through this life into the safe haven of heaven.
