A group of friends kept in touch by email and with a group chat room. They had been
friends at college and upon graduation scattered across the country. At first, they shared
about landing their first job and later getting married. A few years later, they were
sharing tips on raising their children. Even though they were separated by miles they felt
as close as they ever had.
When Roberta shared that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, her friends advised her of doctors, hospitals, and possible treatment options. Her friends encouraged her as best they could. They promised to pray for her and asked their friends to also pray for her healing. Every day, Roberta received emails from friends and acquaintances offering words of hope. Some of the people she had not heard from since her college days.
Then someone had the idea of having everyone log on to the chat room on a certain day at noon to pray "live" for Roberta. On the appointed day, people began praying in office buildings in New York City, a college campus in Ohio, in Texas and California, and many others whose location Roberta did not know. Roberta was strengthened by the prayers of so many people. It was a moving testimony to the power of prayer.
