Harold was in trouble. The case of new baseballs was missing. Harold had been the last
person out of the locker room following gym class, and that afternoon Harold had been
seen tossing a brand new baseball back and forth to his friend, Jess. Several of the ball
team members came up to Harold. They now had Harold backed into a corner and were
about to administer some school yard justice.
Harold frantically tried to explain. "I didn't take the balls! I didn't see them! It wasn't me!" His eyes searched the vacant school yard, hoping to spot the coach or a teacher, anyone who could rescue him. Just like Job, who couldn't seem to find God to argue his case before, the coach to whom Harold would plead his innocence was not to be found. Luckily, the school yard justice hadn't developed into more than words, when Jess arrived with the coach, and Harold was rescued. (The baseballs sent to the school were not the correct ones and the coach had returned them.)
Job finally got to stand before God, but when he did, God did most of the talking.
