Since he had reluctantly re-entered the "singles" world, he often found himself feeling lonely, left-out and lost. Having little "discretionary" income, he was forced to be imaginative in the use of his free time. Movies, plays and gourmet dinners were no longer very viable options because of their expense. So, he often strolled the mall, enjoying the sights and sounds, feeling good about getting a little much-needed physical exercise.
On this particular night, he became enchanted with the rocking chair displayed in the furniture store. One particular rocking chair received his gaze as it sat within a beautifully decorated bedroom setting. Motivating his gaze was the vivid memory of sitting on his mother's lap as she gently rocked away whatever crisis he was facing ... stroking his hair, wiping away the tears, wrapping her sheltering arms securely around him.
As the memory massaged his mind, he wished someone would grab his hand, coax him up onto that rocking chair, and tell him everything was going to be all right.
