He was a businessman. A stern, impassive facade was a necessity in his line of work. He was also a planner who left no detail to chance. Success had come easily and quickly. The only problems he had experienced were with his family, especially the oldest son. There were many times that he wanted to tell his son how much he loved him and how very proud he was of him. Either the time never seemed appropriate or when the time seemed appropriate he would forget what he wanted to say or decide it wasn't that important. Now his whole life had changed. The doctor gave him three to six months. What a shock when he was told! This was not part of his plan! How could it be happening to him? He knew he would never be able to sit with his son and say all the things he wanted to tell him. He decided to write it in a letter with instructions that it be opened after he died. It may be the coward's way out but it was the only way he could handle it at this point in his life. -- Lynch
