In his book, The Greatest Generation, news reporter, Tom Brokaw, makes the
case that the generation of people who lived through World War II is the greatest
generation of American people. Brokaw argues that because this generation lived through
the horrors, deprivations, and struggle of war, they were refined as if through fire. In a
sense, the World War II generation is a living testament to Paul's words in Romans 5:3-5:
this generation lived through suffering and endured, emerging with character and
hope.
