I earned quite a bit of money my freshman year in college
because I was one of the few people on my dormitory floor who
knew how to prepare term papers with footnotes and
bibliographies. So I had all these computer science and
engineering majors come to me the first semester, saying that
they never paid attention to that in high school, because they
did not think that English class was that important to their
future.
They thought that all they really needed to know were some
mathematical equations and scientific formulas. But in college
they discovered that they were wrong. Now it might be a safe bet
to say that what you learn about the anatomy of an earthworm in
ninth grade biology is not going to come up in conversation the
next time you get together with your friends. But you never can
tell when a seemingly insignificant fact can be a very important
thing to be able to remember.
Paul recognized the harm that could come from ignorance. So
he explained to the people the meaning of the resurrection.
