I haven't told this to...

"I haven't told this to anyone since it all began," Alex said, staring at the floor. "Tell me about it now," Jessica pleaded.
Alex began slowly to explain. Then, the words poured out. How he had been a courier for the government during the peace talks. How he had to travel in disguise at times because of the opposition. The dent in the car door from when someone almost ran him off the road at Brenner Pass. "I'm sorry that I couldn't tell you all this before," Alex apologized. "So many things had to be worked out behind the scenes before it could go public." Jessica started to understand his secretive behavior of late. She didn't like being kept in the dark. She knew that more had been going on at the time than what Alex was telling her. Nevertheless, she had decided to trust her husband and hope he would one day explain to her what she was having a hard time understanding. That day had finally arrived. "I feel better now that I have told you the truth," he said. "I feel better now that you have filled me in," Jessica exclaimed. "It all makes sense now." -- Molldrem
