I saw a production of "Godspell" where an overall-clad man came down the aisle at the show's beginning sprinkling water on the audience and in a booming bass voice convincingly cornrnanded us to "Prepare ye the way of the Lord." He portrayed John the Baptist, the forerunner of the frontrunner, the one who ran interference for Jesus.
Preparation is a key that fits every door whether it be that of messianic arrival or something else. My morn used to remind me of the "6-P" system: Previous planning prevents pee-poor performance. It does. Proverbs 27:12 (TLB) gives scripture for the same sentiment, "A sensible man watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them. The simpleton never looks, and suffers the consequences." Abraham Lincoln said, "I will get ready and perhaps my chance will come." He did -- and it did. Henry Ford gave some advice that'll fit in anyone's hip pocket to take on the road of life. "Before everything else, getting ready is the key to success."
Get ready -- get set -- now you can go.
