I was at a clergy...

I was at a clergy conference in a remote, rural location when lightning struck and all the
electrical systems went down. I had just left the group that was gathered for a session and
returned to my room in another building to get something when the lightning hit.
Everything went completely dark. I had no visual sense whatsoever. Although I knew in
my head that I was completely safe out there in my room in the boonies, the darkness was
completely terrifying, nonetheless. After a bit of sitting in my completely black room all
alone, I remembered I had a small flashlight in my toiletry kit. I was able to fumble in the
darkness and pull it out. That little tiny light saved my life. It might as well have been a
floodlight. It gave me an orientation to my surroundings while I waited for the lights to
come back on.
