I was giving our daughter...

I was giving our daughter and her best friend a ride to the movies. They asked if a girl who had just moved to the community could come as well. "Of course," I replied.
During the 10-minute ride to the theater the conversation was lively. However, the mood had changed when the girls came out of the theater. Not knowing why, I asked, "Is something the matter?" As my daughter began to answer my question, she was jabbed in the waist by her new friend. It was clear that she did not want me to know what the problem was. Before I could react, our daughter's best friend said, "Don't worry about talking to her. Everyone knows that you can tell her anything, and she'll help you work it out."
"Yeah," my daughter continued, "You'll learn that you can tell my mom anything."
I was filled with a marvelous sense of peace. How good to know that my daughter and her best friend were not afraid to tell me their hidden secrets.
