I was never much of an athlete. But in grade school I showed my classmates that I could be a fairly good softball pitcher. My Uncle Harold taught me how to put a unique spin on a softball, and my pitching proved to be quite unhittable. How proud I was when I became a member of my elementary school softball team, competing against other elementary schools in the area. The first game I pitched in, however, was a disaster. I stunk! I walked several batters and was quickly taken out of the game. I guess I was just too nervous. But, much to my amazement, I was the starting pitcher for our next game. I did well during that game and for the rest of the season. How grateful I was for that second chance.
Our life in the New Jerusalem will be unlike our old life. There will be no tears, no death, no sorrow, no pain. The New Jerusalem is the world's second chance. Someday, what we only hope for now, will become a reality.
