If Job were to be...

If Job were to be made into a musical, perhaps the band 16 Horsepower might get the gig. They have an album titled Sackcloth and Ashes. Their variations on bluegrass, country rock has a brooding, dark sound, characterized by one reviewer as "Old Testament anguish." This instrumentation supports lyrics laden, in the words of another reviewer, "with religious conviction, temptation, wrestling with one's dark side, hope, and basically the torments of a man looking towards heaven but trapped in an earthly body." Sounds like a match made for a Broadway hit, dramatizing our very real lives in the whirlwind and before God.
