If people recognize 1 Corinthians 13, they know it as the love chapter. Many people think
of it as the wedding chapter, having so often heard it read at weddings. 1 Corinthians 13,
however, is the church fight chapter. It comes in the middle of Paul's discussion about
who (and whose spiritual gifts) is most important in the congregation. Consequently, its
message has value in nearly any context, given that Paul writes it as God's solution to
conflict.
A pastor lit upon a most creative way to apply 1 Corinthians 13 when he preached it at a funeral. Where else than in our ultimate conflict with death should the highest statement of Christian living be proclaimed and explained?
